How Our Domain Registration Works

Registration covers the operational controls that prevent a domain being lost, which is a more common failure than a domain being unavailable. Auto renewal is enabled and the expiry date is monitored independently of the registrar's own reminder email, since that reminder goes to an address that may itself depend on the domain. Registrar lock and, where the registry supports it, registry lock are applied to block unauthorised transfers. WHOIS privacy is enabled where the TLD permits it, and the underlying contact records are kept accurate because inaccurate registrant data is itself grounds for suspension. Defensive registrations across common extensions and frequent misspellings are advised on the basis of what is actually at risk rather than registered indiscriminately. Transfers are handled with the authorisation code and the sixty day post transfer lock accounted for in planning. DNS is configured and confirmed resolving before any nameserver change is made at the registrar, so a transfer never takes the site offline while records are still being entered.
